Longquan Wangou Taoxichuan International Residency
In recent years, the activities in the field of ceramic art in the world have
shown an obvious increasing trend. In particular, various ceramic producing
areas in China have successively launched a number of initiatives for
industrial upgrading and cultural empowerment. The great success of
ceramic culture industry represented by Taoxichuan. It has promoted the
overall revival of the entire China ceramic tourism industry and exerted an
important influence on the entire international ceramic art world. This
phenomenon has also spawned a number of ceramic art parks and ceramic
resident projects. It provides artists with more diverse creative space, more
diverse media choices and expressions. The implementation of this project
will strive to play a positive role in promoting this process.
Celadon is one of the most famous traditional porcelain in China. It is
famous for its delicate porcelain, dignified and simple, pure and beautiful
color. There are also literati, who symbolize moral integrity, loyalty and
nobleness with ice-like jade.
Longquan Kiln is a famous kiln in Chinese ceramic history , which belongs
to the six major kiln systems in the Song Dynasty, and is named because
its main producing area is Longquan. It was founded in the Three
Kingdoms and the Jin Dynasty, and has a history of producing porcelain for
more than 1,600 years. It is the longest porcelain kiln system in China's
porcelain-making history. Its products once sold well in many countries and
regions in Asia, Africa and Europe, and had a far-reaching impact on the
process of human civilization.
This project have invited Chinese and foreign artists who have made great
achievements in artistic creation to carry out creative research activities for
about 6 months with Longquan celadon as the medium, and make a
comprehensive investigation and understanding of Longquan celadon
through artists. With artists' different working methods and personal
perspectives. This paper makes a new exploration and attempt on the
whole process of celadon, such as material characteristics, molding
method, firing technology, and the expressive force and artistic language of
celadon. I hope to make new progress and breakthrough results in this
field.
